LSU Tigers Seek Redemption Against UCLA Bruins in Week 4 Showdown

Tigers Look to Extend Winning Streak and Reclaim Past Glory Against Struggling UCLA Team

The #16-ranked LSU Tigers may not have started the 2024 campaign exactly as they envisioned when their schedule was revealed, but they find themselves in a strong position heading into Week 4 of the 2024 college football season.

This Saturday, the Tigers will have a chance to redeem themselves after an embarrassing road defeat three years ago against the UCLA Bruins. In that game, LSU was outcoached and outclassed from start to finish, leaving one of our reporters watching blue-and-gold confetti litter the sky in Pasadena.

This time, the Bruins will have to travel to a place where LSU has a 54-12 record over the past 10 years—a stadium also celebrating its 100th anniversary this season.

The UCLA Bruins are not the same team LSU faced a few years ago. The Bruins have lost to Indiana and barely scraped by the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. Despite this, they are still a Power 5 program with a large, recognizable brand, and should not be taken lightly despite the Tigers’ advantages in this matchup.

A potential disadvantage for the Tigers is their secondary, which has not shown significant improvement through the first few weeks. However, LSU has an advantage in getting junior wide receiver Chris Hilton back, who has yet to play this season.

“We’re going to get him back on the field, but this will be like dipping a toe in the water,” said Head Coach Brian Kelly.

Hilton provides LSU with veteran leadership and blazing speed, giving quarterback Garrett Nussmeier another weapon in an already impressive LSU wide receiver corps.

“You can’t be out for a month and then show up and start tearing it up. It takes a while. I hope everyone’s expectations are in check. He can’t just come in and pick up where he left off. It’s going to take a few weeks to get him back to the player he was, but he’s going to help us. He’s going to be a main player in what we do this season,” Kelly said, explaining the cautious approach with Hilton.

The LSU Tigers will look to secure their third straight win of the season this weekend.
