Season-Ending ACL Tear for LSU Running Back John Emery Jr.
LSU’s sixth-year running back John Emery suffered a torn ACL during practice on Tuesday just two days after leading the Tiger’s rushing attack against USC, and 10 months after suffering a torn ACL on his right knee vs. Florida.
Emery, a former 5-star RB from Destrehan High, has produced countless moments for LSU fans since 2019; whether it was high stepping into the endzone vs. Alabama, bouncing off defenders, or his constant attempts at hurdling a defender. LSU fans could always expect Emery’s best when on the field.
John Emery Jr. has taken LSU fans on a six-year roller coaster filled with flashes of talent, academic ineligibility, and heartbreaking injuries. Yet it seemed John would finally get his big-time role this year after carrying the LSU backfield Sunday, in which he totaled 10 carries for 61 yards. LSU will now look to true freshman Caden Durham to pick up the slack with Trey Holly still out.
We hope to see #22 back on the field soon and wish him the best as he starts his recovery.
