#13 LSU vs #23 USC Preview: A “Fist Fight” With The Mirror

In one corner, the #13 LSU Tigers. In the other corner the #23 USC Trojans. In a city known for heavyweight bouts, Las Vegas could not have asked for a better introduction to college football on Sunday night, 6:30 pm CST.

Brian Kelly returns for his 3rd year with the Tigers. But, this may be the first year Kelly can truly call the team his. He has rebuilt, reloaded, and recruited not only a roster, but a coaching staff that shows he knows the expectations in Baton Rouge. Championships.

On the Offensive side of the ball, the Tigers are hoping that they can continue to be dominant on offense despite losing Heisman winning Quarterback Jayden Daniels and two 1,000 yard receivers in Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr. These 3 players had the honor of having their names called in the 1st round of the NFL Draft this past April.

Garret Nussmeier is the redshirt junior who will assume the starting quarterback position for LSU in week 1. Nussmeier had received pretty limited action through his college career, with his best tape coming during the ReliaQuest bowl last year. LSU is hopeful that Nussmeier can be LSU’s next hit at Quarterback after having 2 heisman winners at the position the last 4 years.
